Bland raises $50 million for long, difficult voice AI calls

Bland has raised a $50 million Series C led by Dell Technologies Capital, a sharp reversal from its YC days when many investors argued nobody would be making phone calls for much longer.

Not the easy calls

The company says it handled 175 million calls in the past year and now processes about 3.5 million a week. It focuses on long, high-stakes calls in insurance, financial services and fleet operations, where conversations can run 30 to 45 minutes and do not follow a fixed script.

Bland trains its own voice models and does not let customers plug in OpenAI or Anthropic. That gives it control over latency, interruption handling and tone, but also means the new money has to support a full research and engineering stack.
