Microsoft has made the Work IQ API set generally available. The product is not another model launch; it packages company context from Microsoft 365, including mail, calendars, meetings, files and org relationships, so agents can use it as workplace memory.
Why it matters
The pricing is usage based through Copilot Credits rather than tied to a Copilot seat. Microsoft is also exposing the layer through MCP, A2A and REST, which means non-Microsoft agents can use the same context channel.
The strategic bet is that models will be swappable, but enterprise memory will not. If agents become the new application layer, the data foundation inside Microsoft 365 becomes infrastructure rather than a feature.
