KPMG rolls Microsoft Copilot and Agent 365 across 138 markets

KPMG is expanding its AI stack again. After putting Claude into the hands of its global workforce, the firm is now deploying Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent 365 to 276,000 professionals across 138 countries and regions.

Agent control matters more than model choice

The familiar part is Copilot inside Office, Teams and email. The more strategic piece is Agent 365, which gives enterprise AI agents identities, permissions and audit trails. KPMG is also tying the rollout to Azure AI Foundry, KPMG Workbench, Clara and its Trusted AI framework.

For an audit and consulting firm handling sensitive client data, the message is not simply that AI can do more work. It is that agents need ownership, boundaries and records before they can be trusted in regulated workflows.

The move also shows KPMG spreading risk. The same 276,000 employees now sit inside both Anthropic and Microsoft ecosystems, making the firm less dependent on any single AI vendor while keeping governance at the center of deployment.
