OpenAI reframes AI research as human-AI tandem work

OpenAI now says fully automating everything is not the future it wants, shifting from autonomous AI researcher language toward work in tandem with people.

The revision keeps the ambition while making the story easier for regulators, workers and public-market investors.

The point is less a single feature than a test of distribution: the company is trying to place AI inside a workflow users already repeat every day.

The open question is execution. If the rollout is stable, it strengthens the commercial case; if it stumbles, the same visibility will amplify the failure.
